to have or not to have
therein lies the question
some are not meant to be parents
for some, it is their life's mission.
the joys of parenthood
are countless they say
but there goes freedom
for the rest of your day.
seeing their first step
will take your breath away
but seeing the aftermath in your bank account
will keep your fantasizing at bay.
the magic of your own creation
will look you in the eye
but you can never be selfish again
til the day you die.
you will find pure love
when you gaze upon your child
but each step you take in life
will always feel like a mile.
parenting another being
is ethereal as can be
but looking into my crystal ball
i'm not quite sure what i see.
